The 93rd Scottish International Salon of Photography was judged from 15th to 17th April when over 9500 entries from ~52 countries were assessed with only 25% of entries accepted.  Overall, Dumfries Camera Club had 65 acceptances with several members collecting individual awards including four gold medals.

The Overall Salon Nature Photographer for 2016 was Gordon Rae who also won a Royal Photographic Society Gold Medal for ‘Watching Mum’ - a study of two bear cubs in Alaska.  Anne Greiner collected the Global Photographic Union (GPU) Gold Medal in the Monochrome Print section for ‘The Naughty Seat’ and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain’s Gold Medal for Best Portrait.  Ian Findlay’s colour print ‘My Room, My Rules’ was judged best by a Scottish Resident and was awarded a Scottish Photographic Federation Gold Medal.

Anne, Gordon and Ian all won other awards and Tom Langlands received a GPU Ribbon in the Nature section for ‘Wren in Full Song.’
