PRINT COMP. A bigger entry than last time! It is going to be necessary to take out everyone's fourth print in colour and mono. We have never had to do this before and it really underlines our committment to prints!

Most people got back their "4th Print" but there are still a few left in the cupboard.

This is a judge we have never used before so it should be interesting. Even after taking out the 4th print in every League he has 136 to talk about.

Scores are now up in the results page. Can I have all the winning prints please emailed over so I can create the image page. I thought Alan did a great job (I know, I know, I'm just saying that because I got extra points - but I'm not, so there!) and he had something positive/helpful to say throughout the whole of the judging.

So Mr Findlay, the heat is on :)

I thought that Alan did an excellent job, even though I didn't win, and I will invite him again for next year.

A highly entertaining evening in several ways. A good judge with a straightforward style who provided salutary comments and a message I will heed.

I'd echo those sentiments, with one additional point. Being able to handle each of the prints I did wonder about some of the remarks about being unsharp, some were but I was hard pushed to see why he said that for others. I was expecting him to say that my Dismount pic was slightly soft (I thought it was) but he never mentioned it.

You're feeling heat are you, and slightly soft ...

Well congratulations to all winners but especially Bogdon.
You have managed to break the Rod and Anne 'stranglehold' that I have been struggling and failing to do for the last few years. Can you hold on for one more comp!!

Oh, I think he can just as I forecast last year. However, we are not giving up yet!

.. and you should perhaps be worrying Jim about keeping second place!

Alan was a good steady judge with the odd quirky comment and a fairly thorough crit on all the images.
In all, a good night... but can we please do something about the bloody heating in that place, it was freezing!

The last competition of the year looks like being an important one in all the leagues, as the top few authors are all within reach of winning.
Roll on the next one...

Ooops, sorry, it's supposed to be for fun... isn't it!!

Gordon - fun!! Not a chance. It's life and death to the finish.

Rod, I think you're right, and to make mattters worse my printer is knackered. A very stupid little fault but it's going to be a pain to get it fixed, one of the contacts that reads the chip on my yellow cartridge has come off, so the printer thinks no cartridge is installed. You can see it but the damned thing is buried too far in to get at. It's too expensive a printer to scrap but I doubt I'll get it fixed on time, even if I can find somewhere that can do it, any ideas? Permajet put me onto someone in London but they can't help because of the distance.

"stranglehold" is a bit strong Mick!! You make it sound as if we would throttle anyone who tried to beat us! We are truly delighted when others do well, though that does not mean we ever give up trying. We might throttle each other though!

Sorry - perhaps 'continued success' would have been better. Whatever it is I have been trying my hardest to beat you but never quite manage it. I hate it when a judge says 'I couldn't really make my mind up between these two' and it's always mine that seems to get second place. Ah well - as you say I shall keep on trying. Maybe my trip in May will help!

I can remember you beating us in a monthly competition, oh no, you weren't there that night!!! Bummer!!

I quite liked stranglehold.

Mick, a trip in May!! it will all be over by then my friend, and the celebrations will be all finished too....

Then we'll all be back at the bottom, ready to try and climb that never ending slippery slope again...

Still some winning images missing so please send them to me, thanks.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, despite so many prints to judge, Alan was keeping good pace, accurate comments and as he said: picking the commended and winners from so many of a good quality pictures is very hard. I agree with him, never bored yesterday, plenty of great images across the leagues.

Gordon - I am already looking towards next year!
