internal competitions

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of our competitions is to encourage you to take pictures and to show them to the Club. Competition adds a great deal to the overall enjoyment and the judges' comments can be insightful, if frustrating at the same time.

Competition can be fierce but we all do it for fun and you should never be discouraged if your picture is not succesful.

We encourage all members to get involved.

LEAGUE COMPETITIONS

We have a Colour Print League, a Mono Print League and a Projected Digital Image League.

The League competitions allow you to compete against others at your own level in as many Divisions as are required (see scoring for more info). We also hold an Annual Competition near the end of the year. In addition to this we have several less serious competitions which are briefly described in the website Syllabus.

We try to limit each Division to around 8 members to keep the competition tight and give everyone a chance to win. At the beginning of a season, some restructuring may be necessary to achieve this. This can mean that some members will be asked to drop down, or move up, a Division to create a more open field.  The winner of each Division is normally promoted to the next Division.

ANNUAL COMPETITION

We have an Annual Competition for Print and PDI

During each season there will be other "fun" competitions which may include the following.

PRESIDENT'S CHALLENGE

A challenge set by the President, loosely connected with photography.

PAIRS COMPETITION

Members are paired up and are set a challenge to produce a panel of photographs.

LOCHMABEN TROPHY

Anyone can enter with a panel of 3 or 4 prints which are judged anonymously by the membership on the night.
